During our times, nyay! I feel old saying those statement, but yes during our times birthday parties were celebrated in simple ways: cake, ice cream and balloon mean a party already. But now a days, it’s getting fancier and more extravagant with the themed party.
Admit it or not, if you have the means to throw a themed party then surely you’ll want one too. ‘Coz me and my sister who do not celebrate birthdays are hook to themed party since she got her adorable baby Aira. But we have one principle to follow – that is to throw themed party in the cheapest possible way. And yes we did it when Aira turned one last February 6, 2016. You can’t believe it but we only spent less than $20. I wrote a blogpost about “How we managed to have a fabulous themed party decoration in less than $10” .
The Little Red Riding Hood Themed Party
If you read the post with the link provided above then you’ll know why we decided the Little Red Riding Hood Themed Party. If not, then here’s the brief background on how we came up that idea:
Because we don’t want to spend money for the themed party, first thing that we consider is the materials on hand. Since we have bunch of red papers then we look for themed party that calls for red color and that suits for a 1 year old birthday party, thus we came up Little Red Riding Hood.
Granny’s House – For the wall, a box wrapped with the red paper. The doors and windows are copy paper. And for the roof shingles we use coffee filters. Take note that the coffee filters we used were from the humongous coffee filter that was mistakenly order. We trimmed that filter into a smaller size and saved the trimmings.
Tree – A cardboard cut into tree trunks and branches then added some leaves.
Paper Flower for Center Piece – A simple layered 2D paper Flower in different colors.
Big 2D Letters for her name which we used in her baptism then we covered it with red to suit the theme for her birthday.
Balloons – balloons are always good filler on your party area. And of course kids love balloons. By the way, the balloons are donated by Aira’s Godfather.
Desert Backdrop – Pinwheels and raffled circled made out of coffee filters. We also painted some details of the red paper to add a characteristic of the pinwheels.
Little Red Riding Hood Main Character as cake topper, made out of polymer clay.
If only we have enough time then we could add more details like some mushrooms, slice trunk as dessert trays, directions and more. And we could have find ways of hiding the white board. Nevertheless, we were still satisfied with the outcome of the party.
