Egg cartons are excellent materials to use to make your kid’s favourite tiny creature. In this post, I will show you a fun egg carton craft that your kids will surely love – the bumblebee.

Summer is almost here, and the flowers are slowly blooming. Soon tiny creatures will visit our garden. One of our favourites is the bee.
Bees play a significant role in our environment. They are perfectly adapted to pollinate, helping plants grow, breed and produce food. I want my 5-year old niece, Aira, to know about this and how bees work.
And for her to have that fun learning experience, I added crafting to the activity, aside from storytelling.
Make an Adorable Bee Using Egg Carton
In this kid’s craft activity, we used egg carton and the Decoarts Patio Paint Outdoor acrylic paints (any brand of acrylic paint will do).
I did the cutting and installing the parts since I’m using a sharp cutter and a hot glue gun. Of course, my niece has to take part in the activity. She did help me paint the bee’s head and body.
Materials/Tools Used:
- Egg Carton
- Cutter
- Acrylic Paint (black and yellow)
- Paint Brushes
- Googly Eyes
- String
- Yellow Cardstock
- Hot Glue
For the wing, I drew it manually. But if you don’t want to draw it, you can download this template of the bee’s wing. Just adjust it accordingly and print it on yellow cardstock.

Here’s the video on how to make this cute bumblebee
Originally, I didn’t plan to put string, but Aira insisted on adding it. Which turned out better because we can hang it.
She had so much fun playing this egg carton bee craft, and use them on her pretend play.

Up next is another kid’s craft using an egg carton. Do you know what creature we will make next?
